I’m Canda, and I’ve always been drawn to the things that hold a story.
A box of photographs. A handwritten note tucked into a book. A piece of clothing someone couldn’t quite part with. A family name traced through old records. A room full of belongings that may look ordinary to someone else, but together tell the story of a life.
That instinct to notice, research, organize, preserve and make meaning from the details is what became A Life Archived.
Sometimes that means organizing a home or helping a family work through years of belongings. Sometimes it means cataloging a wardrobe or collection. It may mean sorting decades of photographs, researching a family tree, combing through reference material for a writing project, or gathering stories and records into a family history book that can be passed down.
And sometimes it simply means helping someone figure out what to do with all the pieces.
I also believe archiving is not only about preserving a fifty-year-old photograph of your great-grandmother.
It can be just as valuable for the life you are living right now.
For many of us, the last few years exist in thousands of phone photos, screenshots, text threads, school pictures, travel albums, digital files, half-finished baby books and memories we fully intend to organize “someday.” It is surprisingly easy for the present to become the past before we have had a chance to document it.
Archiving can mean catching up on the busy years while they are still fresh. It can mean creating a system for family photos before another ten thousand collect on your phone, recording the stories behind a recent move or milestone, organizing children's artwork and school memories, documenting travels, or simply making sure the everyday moments you love do not disappear into a camera roll.
You do not need generations of family history to have something worth preserving.

I created A Life Archived around the idea that organization does not have to mean stripping away everything personal. The goal is not to make a home, archive or collection look empty. It is to understand what matters, preserve what deserves to remain, and create enough order that those things can actually be found, used, remembered and enjoyed.
That same philosophy carries into my creative work. Through workshops in art journaling, junk journaling, scrapbooking, card making and other paper arts, I help people create something made to be kept rather than consumed and forgotten.
Research is another important part of my work. I’ve supported projects by digging through reference materials, researching subjects for published writing, tracing genealogical connections and building family trees. I genuinely enjoy following a thread, finding the missing piece and turning a large amount of information into something clear, useful and meaningful.
I also curate vintage clothing through my online shop, Wish You Were Then, a name inspired by that familiar feeling of looking at a piece from another decade and wishing you could have been there to experience it the first time around. Part of the fun is imagining where an item may have been worn, who chose it, and what life it had before it found its way to you.
The shop is my way of hunting for lost treasures and forgotten favorites, pieces with character, craftsmanship and a little history still attached. I’m drawn to clothing and accessories that feel distinctive, wearable and worth passing along, giving them the chance to become part of someone else’s story.

Personal Concierge services are designed for the research, sourcing, organizing and behind-the-scenes tasks that help move a larger project forward. If something needs to be found, figured out, coordinated or brought together, this is often where it belongs.
Projects are customized around the individual need, collection, household or event.
Your wardrobe, edited like a collection.
A wardrobe can hold years of purchases, changing sizes, special occasions, sentimental pieces and things you've simply forgotten you own.
I help edit and organize clothing with a curator's eye, identifying what works, what deserves to stay and what may be ready for a new home.
For larger or more valuable wardrobes, pieces can also be photographed and cataloged, creating a visual record of what you own.
May include wardrobe editing, closet organization, clothing inventories, digital cataloging, resale preparation and documentation of special or vintage pieces.

Family history is more than dates on a tree. It lives in photographs, records, memories, places, traditions and the stories passed from one generation to the next.
I can help research and document your family history, build and organize family trees, gather supporting records and turn what we uncover into something meaningful and lasting. For families who want more than a collection of research, I can also help shape those discoveries into a beautifully organized family history book. Bringing together photographs, documents, timelines and personal stories creates a volume to be shared and kept.

I help organize both physical and digital photo collections so they become easier to preserve, identify and enjoy. That may mean sorting decades of printed photographs, identifying people and dates, organizing digital files, creating a catalog or bringing photographs together with the stories and information that give them context.
The goal is not simply to store photographs, but to preserve what they help us remember.

My vintage clothing collection is an extension of the same philosophy behind A Life Archived: noticing what is worth keeping, appreciating the story in an object and finding the right place for it to continue.
I source and curate distinctive vintage clothing and accessories with an eye toward character, craftsmanship, fabric, detail and wearability. Selected pieces are made available through my online shop, giving clothing from another era an opportunity to become part of someone else's story.

Make something worth keeping.
A Life Archived offers guided creative workshops centered around paper, memory, storytelling and making by hand.
Sessions may explore art journaling, junk journals, scrapbooking, handmade cards, collage, memory keeping and other paper-based creative practices. Workshops are approachable for beginners while still leaving room for experienced makers to experiment with materials, composition and personal storytelling.
The emphasis is less on creating identical projects and more on learning techniques, working with beautiful materials and leaving with something that feels distinctly your own.
Workshops may be offered as private at-home sessions, private group workshops or public classes in community spaces, shops, studios or other venues.
Themes may include art journals, junk journals, scrapbooking, card making, collage, handmade books, memory keeping and mixed-media paper projects.

Some projects begin with a question and a large amount of information to work through.
I provide project-based research support for individuals, writers and creative professionals who need help finding, organizing and making sense of information. That may involve exploring historical or genealogical records, reviewing books and reference materials, building timelines or family trees, tracing sources, or gathering background information around a particular subject.
I can work independently on a focused research question or become part of a larger project, helping transform scattered information into something organized, useful and ready to move forward.
